This is the POPIA section 18 notice for theframeryonrus.com.

1. Who is responsible

The responsible party for the purposes of POPIA is The Framery Onrus.

3 Viljoen Street
Onrus, Hermanus, 7201
Western Cape, South Africa

The Information Officer is the studio owner, reachable at theframery1@gmail.com or +27 79 361 8177.

2. What this website records

Standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, page requested) are kept by the hosting platform for operational purposes. The site uses cookie-free analytics to count aggregate page views and infer rough geography from IP addresses; it does not build a profile of you across sites.

The site does not use third-party advertising trackers, social-media pixels, or any cross-site fingerprinting.

3. What the studio holds about you

When you send a quote request through the chat on this site, or in person at the workshop, the studio records what you share. Typically that is:

  • Your name, phone number, and email address.
  • The artwork you want framed: type, dimensions, and any notes or measurements you provide.
  • A photograph of the piece, if you choose to upload one. Photos are stored on the studio's backend and shown only to the studio owner.
  • The history of your conversation about a quote: what was discussed, what was decided, what was quoted, and whether the job was completed.

4. Whether providing it is voluntary

Providing your personal information is voluntary. If you choose not to share contact details, the studio will not be able to respond to an enquiry that has no way to reach you back.

5. Who has access

The studio owner is the only person who reads enquiries and sees your details. WhatsApp and your email provider handle messages you send through them, governed by their own privacy policies.

6. Cross-border transfers

Hosting providers, WhatsApp, and most email providers operate servers outside South Africa, including within the European Union, with privacy commitments consistent with section 72 of POPIA.

7. How long it is kept

The studio keeps quote and job records for as long as is useful for the customer relationship, because custom framing is a long conversation: the same person often comes back years later with a new piece, and prior measurements, frame choices, and notes are useful at that point. The studio does not delete past records on a schedule for that reason.

If you ask for your record or photographs to be deleted, the studio will delete them as soon as is reasonable. Copies held by WhatsApp, by your email provider, and by any intermediate mail server are subject to those services' own retention policies and the studio cannot delete them on your behalf.

Server access logs and aggregate analytics are retained by the hosting platforms according to their own policies.

8. Your rights

Under POPIA you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information the studio holds about you and request a copy.
  • Ask for it to be corrected if it is inaccurate.
  • Ask for it to be deleted.
  • Object to processing in the circumstances POPIA allows.

To exercise any of these rights, contact the Information Officer at theframery1@gmail.com. A response will follow within thirty days.

9. Complaints to the Regulator

You may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa at any time:
